"You can dress modestly and still be cool". That was the message for the Comstock Park High School event "Pure Passion for Fashion". Pure Passion for Fashion is a nationally known peer to peer program which encourages young students to practice healthy relationships, a positive self-image, and abstinence.

The message is emersed in a huge production that incorporates entertainment, and fashion, which set the stage for making positive choices about sex, drugs, and alcohol.

I was thrilled to be a part of the event which was held at my very own alma matter, Comstock Park High School! Along with Maranda from WOOD TV, I co-emceed the event which featured live music, dancing, student modeling, and the dynamic national speaker David Mahan who spoke about the importance of abstinace.

Students, parents, and staff of Comstock Park High School came together to celebrate hot fashions, along with keeping a modest and somewhat conservative aspect to the fashion trends. The event which was a celebration, also supported awareness on appropriate attire, healthy relationships through abstinance, and securing a positive self image. Students were eager to hit the runway and strut their stuff in some of the latest trends from retailers like JC Penney, Younkers, Debs, Buckle, Meijer, Fashion Bug, and the Mens Wearhouse.

For me this was an amazing opportunity to be a part of an event which empowers youth to make wise decisions that may effect their future. It sent a strong message that being cool isn't how much skin you can show, and who's doing what on prom night. It's about being confident in yourself and your decisions to do what's right, and thats always cool!
